According to Muma John, clandestine schools engage in unfair competition with compliant schools by offering lower prices and attracting students without adhering to standards and regulations. This creates a difficult situation for compliant schools that invest in quality education and respect the rules.

La Mémoire school group, located in Bonabéri, in the 4th district of Douala, is an example of a compliant school that offers an innovative pedagogical model. This bilingual school operates with a model where English is taught as a subject to Francophones and French is taught as a subject to Anglophones. Students follow 85% of their classes in their mother tongue and 15% in the other language, which enables them to develop a good mastery of both official languages of Cameroon.

Muma John has expressed his support for Minister Pauline Nalova Nyonga’s initiative to close down clandestine schools. He believes that this measure is necessary to guarantee the quality of education and protect students.

La Mémoire school group is an example of the pedagogical innovation that can be implemented to meet the needs of students in a bilingual context.
